EL HUIZACHE STUDIO
Alejandro Mendoza, a skilled weaver from Teotitlan del Valle, Oaxaca, learned his craft from his father. Moving to Orange County, California, as a teenager, he maintained ties to his roots, shuttling between studios in Orange County and Oaxaca. This fusion of cultures broadened his perspective and deepened his commitment to weaving. Working with his uncle, a master weaver, during college further honed his skills. Marriage to Veronica solidified their joint mission to preserve their heritage. They crafted exquisite pieces in their home studio in Orange County and Oaxaca. Their talent gained recognition through exhibitions and collaborations, showcasing Zapotec weaving traditions infused with contemporary creativity.
Today, Alejandro stands as a beacon of artistic excellence, bridging the past and present through his craft.
