GCS DIGITAL ARTISTRY
Gail Camic-Smith was born in San Gabriel California. She studied traditional painting and drawing throughout high school and college in Southern California. She has lived in the Eastern Sierra area for over 25 years. In 2010 she was
introduced to the Corel X painting program and taught to use a Wacom Tablet by Beverly Schroeder a talented local photographer. The introduction to this program stimulated the creative forces blending her love of painting, drawing, and the huge array of new and exciting tools in a digital format. The excitement of a new and different medium put her on the path to a career as a digital artist as well as acrylic
painting artist.
She is married to Nigel Smith a creative wood artist who educated her in the use of
woodworking tools and helped develop her skill of creating unique frames. They participate in local art shows as a team displaying beautiful furniture and original paintings with distinctive frames.
The digital paintings Gail creates are very detailed and have extremely vivid color schemes. Her goal is to paint places where you can imagine yourself in the scene. It is where you would rather be and being there makes you calm and happy because you can feel the sun on your face, hear the stream, and smell the flowers. She also creates custom scenes on consignment and can develop paintings from personal photos of people doing the things they enjoy.
All her digital paintings presented on canvas are Giclee’s printed with Archival inks and coated with a UVB protectant that protects against fading, moisture, and abrasion for over 100 years. In addition some of her digital paintings are enhanced Giclee’s (detailed with oil or acrylic paint). She makes all her frames by hand and considers them part of the work of art. Each frame is unique and suited to the painting it enhances.
